Peace

When are going through trials and tribulations, we can’t find the peace we need to be calm. Tribulations are something that we all have experienced, and are experiencing every day. We don’t know when trials and tribulations will come, but when they do, we are always caught off guard. What do we do? Where can we find that peace to calm our troubled Spirit? How do we get through it? Do we ask our friends and neighbors? Do we try to find the answers on the internet, and in books? What do we do?

Peace of mind seems elusive in a day when a day when anxiety is at an all-time high. This only increases with the information on demand that pops up on our smartphones and tablets. Yet Jesus has promised that we can experience true peace: “I am leaving you with a gift-peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give isa gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid” (John 14:27). From the New Believers Bible New Testament: Greg Laurie New Living Translation

Real peace comes from Jesus Christ. He is the only One who can help us through the trials and tribulations that we go through. We do not have to go to the internet, family, friends, or self-help books. The only book we need to consult is the Bible. Jesus will give us the peace we need. He will calm that storm that is trying to take us under. Yes, trials and tribulations come to make us strong, but while we are going through the trials and tribulations, we can have faith knowing that we are not going through them alone. Going through hurt and pain doesn’t feel good; anything that brings us grief does not feel good, it’s a feeling that sits in the middle of our chest that causes us to lose sleep, become depressed, and be filled with anxiety, but know this, Jesus knows all about it. He knows everything that we will ever face. He knows the nights we will sleep, the nights we will be awake, and the times we will cry all night long because of how we feel on the inside.

He is always there to comfort us. He is always there to make things better. He is always there to dry our tears. He is always there to give us strength to face another day. I can speak about this because I have been down that road more times than I can count, and believe me, I thought I wasn’t going to make it, but because Jesus was with me I made it.

The problem is that many people are still searching for something God has already given us as a gift. They have simply left that gift unopened. We cannot find peace outside the parameters God has given to us. “Begin to unwrap” this precious gift by examining what God’s Word has to say about it. (from the same Bible Above, and author).

Matthew 11:28-30-Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let Me teach you because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.” (NLT) Peace begins when we let God take control.

Romans 8:5-8-Those who are dominated by the sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit. So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace. For the sinful nature is always hostile to God. It never did obey God’s laws, and it never will. That’s why those who are still under the control of their sinful nature can never please God. (NLT) Our peace continues as we follow the Holy Spirit

Colossians 3:15- Let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful. (NLT) God’s peace needs to rule in our hearts.

See, Jesus loves us so much. He wants us to be in peace. He is our peace that passes all understanding. We do not have to be afraid when we are going through trials and tribulations. All we have to do is give it all to Him and let Him take care of it. His love and peace endures forever.

With that being said, stay in peace, stay safe, and as always thank you for joining me on my journey with Food for the Soul. Merry Christmas!
