When I had forgotten all about thinking about writing a book, I received an email from the publishing company who I am with today. It was one afternoon when I was just outside in my backyard. I updated my phone number and never gave it a second thought. I didn’t think I was going to get a call back from anyone, but I did. About a week or two later, I received a call from my consultant who did not give up on me writing this book. I did not know what to expect, and I surely did not have the finances to write the book, so I just put it out of my mind. A few weeks later, she called me back. Things were still the same, but I had a feeling that something good was going to happen. I let my son know about it after she and I talked. A few minutes later, he called me and gave me the greatest news that a mother would not believe, nor expect to hear, he gave me the money to have my book published. Had I not already been wondering where I was going to get the money from, I just did not know what to say. I was in shock, well we were in shock, my husband and I. I literally had to sit down before I fainted. I shed tears of joy! I was so overwhelmed with joy and happiness. I wanted to jump up and down, and run around, and scream to the top of my lungs. All I could do was thank God for the miracle blessing. I am so grateful to God, and to my son for blessing me in that way. Nothing has ever happened to me like that in all of my life of being alive on this earth. I started writing when I found the right title for my book, because at first, I could not write one word with the first title I had. I started thinking about my life and all of the things I have been through, and that is where I came up with my title: My Life: From the Back Burner. I then began to write my book. I started in May of this year, and finished before the month was out. I thought it was going to take me until the first of the year to finish it, but I had so much time on my hands to do it, so I stayed up writing until the next day sometimes. There were a lot of sleepless nights when I was writing. I just poured all of my heart into it because I wanted it to be perfect. I had to go back into the memories of my mind and put everything in order so it would flow like I wanted it to do. There were lots of changes made along the way during the writing process.

It was a big mess in the beginning. I didn’t know about the formatting, or how to make the paragraphs line up correctly. I had problems with the cursor jumping around. The lettering kept changing fonts without my knowing. I made so many calls to my publishers when I didn’t understand how to do something. There were times when I felt like giving up, but I knew that it was going to be great because of all of the trouble I was having in the beginning. I am happy to say that everything turned out beautiful. Everyone who had a part in the publishing process, and the design process, executed my vision just perfectly. I have a great team of people working with me. They are amazing! I could not ask for a better group of people who wanted to see my dream come to pass. It is no longer a dream, but it is a complete reality. I often feel like I am dreaming because everything happened so fast. I still become teary eyed when I think about it. I never thought I would be writing my first book at the age of 47 years old. I am the first person in my family to ever become a self-published author, whose name and book is registered in the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C.!

This is just the beginning of more books to come. This is a beautiful journey I am on right now, and I do not plan to remove myself from it ever. I cannot wait to see what my future holds for me. Whatever it is, I know it is going to be beautiful. With that being said, until next time, keep on reading. Books will take you on journeys that you have never been on before.
