Walking in the Light
Have you ever walked in darkness? Maybe the power went out in your house during a storm, or you were stranded on the road with car trouble. Walking in darkness can be scary, and it can be dangerous.
Having a light is just a little better, isn’t it?
The same is true in our spiritual journeys.
How we find that light in the midst of darkness is actually pretty straightforward: Psalm 119 says that God’s Word is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path—in other words, the Bible itself is the light! It is our guide. It helps us make decisions to follow Christ and not walk in darkness. Just as He is the light of the world, we are called to be His reflection in the world. When we intentionally choose to walk in His light, we embrace truth, righteousness, and love.
Walking in the light means surrendering our old ways, seeking God’s guidance, and allowing His Spirit to shape our thoughts, actions, and attitudes.
As we walk in the light, a beautiful transformation occurs: we find fellowship with one another. This light of Christ not only illuminates our individual paths but also creates a bond of unity among believers. It’s how we discover the joy of shared faith, encouragement, and accountability. It is through this bond that we are reminded that we are not alone on our journey.
Today, reflect on your walk with Christ. Are you consciously choosing to walk in His light? Are you growing in community? And are you fully embracing the cleansing power of Jesus’ blood, allowing His grace to purify your life?
As you reflect, think about ways you can grow closer to God, experiencing the abundant life He has promised, and become a beacon of His light in a world that so desperately needs it.

John here gives us the mission statement for his gospel; in it we find an excellent summary of the gospel message.
First, the purpose of the gospel is to exalt and proclaim that “Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God.” Any message that pretends to be the Bible’s good news, but falls short of this declaration, is not the true gospel.
The core of the gospel message is not — as many attempt to make it — the dignity of humankind, charitable acts of service, or even the promise of heaven. The gospel hub, from which every other part of the message emanates and keeps its right place, is the deity and glory of Jesus Christ.
Yet, the good news does apply to you. The truth is that Jesus is God’s anointed and perfect Son, who came to die in the place of his people and pay for their sins. But John wrote these things, not merely for the purpose of passing on facts regarding Jesus, but that these truths might affect us.
The things that John has so carefully and beautifully recorded for us are written for this purpose: “that ye might believe…and that believing ye might have life through his name.” Nothing could be more important!
Have you read John’s record? Do you believe his claims regarding Jesus? Have you believed on Jesus Christ, that believing you might have life through his name?

This message comes from an angel, in the last days, and is part of the “everlasting gospel” which he preaches to all the inhabitants of earth (verse 6).
This is a message then which you are meant to hear, and should receive, no matter who you are or where you come from. It is directed toward “every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people.” Why? Because God made heaven and earth.
You are walking on God’s ground, breathing God’s air, enjoying God’s sun, and looking up into God’s sky. And the same God who made heaven and earth is coming soon in judgment. Every eye will see him and every knee must bow to him.
So, as the angel proclaims, fear God and give him the glory he is due. The implied subject is “You!” This is not a message for other people, or for a group of people — it is a direct and authoritative and gracious command for you to fear God and give him glory.
Perhaps you already are a believer in Jesus Christ, and have confessed and repented of your sins. Is this message not to you also? Shouldn’t we all embrace the everlasting gospel, at every point in our lives? Is it not always a timely reminder to be told “fear God, and give him glory,” since we so easily become distracted from this one great priority for our life?
What a joy it should be to a believer to hear these words: “worship Him!” It is but the encouragement to our heart’s desire, the command that we delight to obey.

If I could give these roses to Jesus Christ I would. He has done so much for me all of my life. No one could ever love me like He does.
