When tragedy and loss happens, we sometimes feel like we cannot go on. We wonder how we are going to be from one day to the next. We look at life around us differently. We look at things as temporary and meaningless. Our minds are clouded with negativity to the point that we want to give up on hope and what we believe in.
Sometimes it even takes months or years for someone to get a grasp on reality again. We often feel like we are existing but not living like we want to. When tragedy happens, it takes a toll on how we think and feel about things. It often makes us examine ourselves to see how we are on the inside. Tragedy and loss is like drinking sour lemonade, it doesn’t taste good. It’s not good for the heart, or soul.
Tragedy and loss can cause someone to become bitter, angry, and filled with hate. We forget that life goes on even after bad things happen. We cannot stop living just because tragedy and loss happens. We have to dig down deep as hard as it may be, dig our feet in and keep going on.
We cannot let the bad things that happen stop us from having a happy life. Trials come to make us strong. Jesus is with us through everything we go through. We never have to face circumstances alone. Because He lives, we live. We can go on living because He lives. Life goes on even into eternity. God bless, and stay safe. Thank you for following me on my journey with Food for the Soul.
But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. John 14:26 KJV https://bible.com/bible/1/jhn.14.26.KJV
Even in these trying times, the Comforter is here with us. He helps us to remember the things that God said in His Word to us. He teaches us all things concerning what Jesus has said to us. It is good to know we are not on this earth alone. Jesus said that He would not leave us as orphans, that the Father would send Him to us, which is the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost will be with us forever. He will forever teach us the ways of God.
Right now as we are going through loss, He is here comforting us. He is mending our broken hearts. He is showering us with His precious love. We never have to worry about not having someone here to comfort us when we are shedding tears for whatever reason. I thank God for the Holy Ghost.
But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: for he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. James 1:22-24 KJV https://bible.com/bible/1/jas.1.22-24.KJV
“When we follow Jesus, we cannot go wrong.” – Shaunelius L. Sterns
Today was quiet, but another work day for me. As I was preparing to go to work, I received a call from my sister telling me that our grandmother did not make it, she passed away. I lost it, completely lost it.
Being the person I am in God, I should have handled it better than I did, but I have feelings to. My whole heart shattered within a split second. Our hearts are heavy as we grieve the loss of our grandmother. This will be a Valentine’s Day I do not ever intend to forget.
In due time our hearts will mend, but as for now everything is on the surface. Everything is very raw. This is how I cope with grief; I have to write what I am feeling. I have to get it out, even if it means screaming to the top of my lungs. Pain is pain and it all hurts very deeply. Preachers are people too, we hurt, we cry, we go through devastating situations just as everyone does. We just have to remember that we are carriers of the Word of God. Even in this time of bereavement I still have to be strong for my family. I still broke down. Was I wrong? Was I wrong for crying and screaming? Was I wrong for letting my heart break?
Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, 1 Corinthians 13:4 KJV https://bible.com/bible/1/1co.13.4.KJV
Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for their’s is the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 5:10 KJV https://bible.com/bible/1/mat.5.10.KJV
Persecution is something that I have experienced more times than I can count since I have been a Christian. Persecution is even on the job, and I have experienced that as well also. I have been falsely accused of many things that I did not do, and I guess that is something I will have to endure as long as I am alive.
When anyone is persecuted for the sake of righteousness, theirs is the kingdom of heaven. There’s no persecution in heaven. We will live in peace for all eternity. We will not have to worry about being falsely accused of anything ever again.
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Jeremiah 29:11 KJV https://bible.com/bible/1/jer.29.11.KJV
We may often wonder what God thinks of us, well, He tells us in Jeremiah 29:11. How wonderful it is to know that God thinks this of us, and wants this for us. When we think about all of the mistakes we have made in our life, and God still loves us that should bring joy to our heart and soul.
At the time when the world was brand new, who would have ever thought that things would happen to make the things of the earth become sinful and dark. Sin ruined everything. God had to restore what He created after the flood. We are restored through the shedding of the blood of Jesus Christ, His Son, our Saviour, and soon coming King. Our mind is renewed by the Word of God. When we began to see through our spiritual eyes, we began to see things more cleanly, and understand things that we normally wouldn’t.
Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 KJV https://bible.com/bible/1/2co.1.3-4.KJV
At some point we will all need to be comforted. Jesus is always here to comfort us no matter what we are going through in our life. We are to comfort others when they are going through something that God has brought us through. We can tell them how God helped us through our situations we were facing. When we do that, it lets them know that God is there for them to, and that they are not alone.
I can recount how I was comforted by God when we lost our brother. It felt like the pain of losing him was never going to leave, and the shock of it. I can recount how our church family was there for me whenever we told them about our brothers passing. I felt Gods love and comfort as they reassured me that everything was going to be alright. During that time in my life the grieving process was very hard, because I love my brother so much. I take comfort in God’s Word whenever I start to feel sad.
We all ho through things that hurt us deeply, and God is the only One who can make that hurt go away. I know sometimes ask why we go through hurt and pain, but it is a part of life just like joy and happiness. We can take comfort in knowing that Jesus will never leave us nor forsake us. We can take comfort in knowing that we have the Holy Ghost to comfort us, to heal our spirit, and give us joy.
This is a beautiful Scripture. I could go on and on about God’s comfort that He gives us. It would take me a lifetime to tell it all. Think about the times when God comforted you and share it with someone who you know that really needs to know about the comfort of God.
How many times have we said that we need help with this, or that? We often forget where our help comes from. We forget that we have a Father who is ready, willing, waiting, and wants to help us at any given moment. Do we not understand and realize that God has been helping us since before we were born?
He helped us by creating this world for us so we would have a place to live. He sent His Son into this world to save us from a devils hell. He has been helping us since the world began. He left us His Word so we could get to know Him and His Son.
He helps us when we are going through things in our life that we don’t have control over. He helps us get through things that we are going through that we don’t understand.
When a way needs to be made when we cannot see a way out of something, He makes a way for us. When we are suffering loss, he helps us by comforting us through our grief.
God helps us everyday, we just have to open our spiritual eyes and see it. When we need a job, He opens doors that no man can shut. When we are sick in the need of healing, He heals us. I am a living witness to that; He has healed me many times when I was sick and could not afford to go to the doctor, so He has been my doctor.
I know He has helped you too. He is there when we need Him, and we need Him everyday of our life. Thank Him today and everyday for all of the help He gives to us. He is our ever present help in the good and bad times. We can call on Him anytime. It doesn’t matter where we are when we need Him. He is just a prayer away. Just remember, He loves us all and wants what is best for all of us.
