In the Garden Alone

We go through life asking questions about things that we want to know about, but we never get the real answers we want. We read many books and search the internet for answers about things and we still come up short. There are times when we may feel like we are in the valley and we wonder how we got there. We say to ourselves, “What is the meaning of all of this?” Why am I here? Where do we get the answer to that question? What do we do?

Do you ever feel like you are in the garden alone? What I mean by saying this is that, do you ever feel like you are in agony at some point in your life? Do you ever feel like there’s no way to escape from the agony you are facing? Do you ever feel like you cannot trust anyone to be there for you when you really need someone to watch out for you, to have your back, to pray with you when you need spiritual support? Where are those who call themselves your true friends? It is funny how when you are going through something, your friends are rarely ever there. When everything is going right, they are always around.

This takes me back to when Jesus went to the garden to pray, and the disciples went with Him. They sat a piece of the way off so Jesus could pray. He told them to keep watch, but what did they do, they fell asleep. Jesus prayed, went back and found them sleeping. Even though they were there with Jesus, it was like they were not there, it was as if He was there in the garden alone, but He wasn’t. There was an angel there with Him to give Him strength to pray to God about what was about to happen to Him.

Do we ever think about that what Jesus went through that night in the Garden of Gethsemane? Can we even imagine the agony He felt while knowing what was about to take place? He was betrayed by Judas, denied three times by Peter, and doubted by Thomas after He had risen. Jesus knew all of this in the very beginning before He even called the twelve disciples.

Are our friends and family always there for us, the answer is no. Do they come every time we call, the answer is no. It hurts, but we get over it. It hurt Peter when he denied Jesus, it hurt Judas after he realized what he done, and Thomas believed after he saw Jesus in the room with them. Jesus is the only real friend we all have. He said that He would never leave us nor forsake us, and He said He would be with us even until the end of the age. When Jesus is with us, we are never in the valley, or the garden alone.

What are you struggling with that only God can fix today? Whatever it is, put it in His hands and let Him take care of it. We can rest knowing that God is in control of everything, we can trust Him with everything that we are going through. Just remember that He loves all of us. When we start to feel like no one loves us, He does, and His love will never change. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Amen to the glory of God, and Jesus our King who is coming back again someday.

If you have not talked to Jesus today, He is waiting to hear from you. He is ready to give you a new life in Him so you can spend eternity with Him. You do not have to be afraid to go to Jesus in prayer. His ears are always open to hear what we have to say. He is ready to hear our hearts cry. Scripture Reading: John 3:16-17-For God so loved the world, that He gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (v.17.) For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved. (KJV) ©2022
