“We can always run to God when we need refuge, we can trust HIM!”
Mrs. Shaunelius L. Sterns
I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress; in Him I will trust.
King David is telling us that the Lord is our refuge and our fortress; and we can trust Him. Eventhough King David made his share of mistakes, he still trusted God, even when his child died, the one that BathSheba had for him, he still trusted God. When King Saul was so jealous of him, and was trying to kill him, he still trusted God. When he went out to fight wars, he still trusted God. There is nothing that King David did that God did not already know about, but He showed King David mercy. God did not give up on King David, and He will not give up on us.
When we are afraid of something we can run to God. When we need comforting we can run to God. No matter what we are facing in our lives, we can run to God. He is our fortress. Nothing can harm us when we run to Him. He will always be there to protect us from our enemies. He will hold us in His loving arms and keep us safe. He is our everything. He will be for us always, never against us. When we feel that our faith is getting weak, we can ask God to strengthen our faith. When we need knowledge and wisdom, He will give it to us. When we need direction and guidance, He will show us the way to go.
We must consult with Him about everything that is going on in our lives. He is the only One who can help us. Yes, we can get advice from our friends and family, but we can get the real truth from Him. He loves us more than we will ever know, more than our minds can fathom, more than we will ever love ourselves.
There are times in our lives when things happen to us and we just do not know why. There are seasons in our lives that we go through when we do not feel His presence, or hear His voice. There are times when we are in the valley alone by ourselves with no one to talk to. There are times in our lives when we lose someone we love, but we do not know why. There are days that feel like years when we have been waiting on God to bless us with that something that we want. We have to understand that God does things in His own timing not ours. He knows what is best for us. If He did everything that we wanted all at one time, and answered every prayer at one time, would we be able to contain it? Would we be able to process the magnitude of the blessings and answered prayers? Would we stay in our right mind, or would we lose our mind from the magnitude of the blessings? Would we really be thankful, or would we find a reason to complain about something that we did not get? This is something that we really need to consider and think about.
For instance, the vaccines that are out now for the Corona Virus, we wanted something to protect us from catching it, so He has made that possible, but now every time I turn around there is something negative being said about it. I know that there are going to be questions about it because of the side affects from it, but still lives are being lost because of it. Will we ever learn and understand that He did not have to make this possible, He could have just left things as they were. He could have not given them knowledge to make this vaccine for everybody. We need to learn to be thankful and appreciate the things He does for us and stop complaining about everything. Just like He gave it, He can take it away. What will there be to complain about then?
We still have to pray about this everyday. We still have to social distance in some places, and we still have to wear our masks in certain places. We still have to be careful. I cannot help how I feel about this matter. I want everyone to be protected from this virus, but we cannot give up on God because He will not give up on us. We cannot let go of our faith in God; our faith must remain strong still through this situation. Just remember that God is our refuge and our fortress, we can always count on Him. We can always trust Him. Don’t forget to thank Him for the many blessings He has given us, and for all of the prayers He hears and answers for us. He loves us and we must love Him too. Be blessed in the Lord our God.
I know that we will never do the miracles that Jesus did, but there is work to be done for the kingdom of God until Jesus returns. We all have something to do that God has planned for us since we were born, but what that plan is we do not know until we go to the Father in prayer. We all have things that we want to do on our own, but what about what God want us to do? Do we ever take the time to ask Him, or seek Him for the answers? Do we ever take the time to study what He is saying to us in His Word that HE wrote for us, and do we meditate on the things that Jesus told us to do? Maybe we do, and maybe we don’t, and maybe we just need to set aside some time to spend in the Word, the Living Word of God. We all have greatness inside of us, but we just have to take the time to find it, and the only way we are going to do that is to consult with the Creator who created us. We do not have to be ashamed to Go to God and ask Him about our lives; He has all of the answers we will ever need to every question we will ever have.He will tell us the plan that He has for our lives, we just have to ask in faith and not doubt, because when we doubt Him about what we want, we will not get it. That is telling Him that we do not believe Him, and that He will not do what we asked. We must have faith in God. He knows everything that we need, and all of the desires of our heart. We must be bold when we go before the throne of God, we cannot be timid, but we must have a healthy fear of Him. Not the kind of fear that will keep us from Him, but the kind of fear that a child has for their parents knowing that they love them. Knowing that they only want the best for them, just as God wants the best for us. Sisters and brothers, be kind to one another. Don’t forget to talk to Jesus; He wants to hear from you. Stay blessed.
This is a beautiful song by Fred Hammond. Listen to some of his other hits, I know you will be blessed by them.Beautiful. Only God knows what is ahead of us on the path that we will walk through life. We will not have to walk that path alone, He will be with us all of the way.
