I am the kind of person that loves to work. I have been truly blessed. I love working because I get to help people, and that makes me feel better about myself. I think about how Jesus fed the multitude of people with just two fish and five loaves of bread. Whenever I see a smile on a persons face, that lets me know that I had something to do with that. I just may be a cashier, but I take the order as if Jesus is there in the flesh watching me. I want to honor Him in all that I do. I want to please God and put a smile on His face, because if it were not for Him I would not have what I have now.
There is nothing wrong with working, because if a person doesn’t work, they don’t eat. People in the Bible days worked hard, paid their taxes, and took care of their families. Girls were taught the things that women did in the home, and boys were taught by their fathers the things that men did. Children were taught about things that they could use all of their lives, and everyone was waiting for the coming of their Savior. Things were not good all of the time because of the Roman soldiers. They would take children to work to pay for things that their parents couldn’t pay for, so they suffered a lot. Working has been going on since the beginning of time . God worked six days to create this world that we live in, but on the seventh day He rested. Working is good for all people; it is a since of accomplishment that makes a person want to do better for their family. It is what we do to make sure our families are safe and secure. It is what we do to provide provisions for our families, and to help those that are in need. We are to be generous in our giving, because we never know when someone will have to be there for us. God gave, so we should to. He gave freely and so should we not expecting anything in return, because He knows what we need before we even ask for it. He will provide our every need. We may not always get what we want, but He will surely give us what we need to survive. We need Jesus to survive. Without Him we could not survive, we will never be truly happy, we will never have real joy; He is all of that and more.
Work is good, so when you feel like you just cannot get up another day and go to work, just think about what Jesus went through just for us. He worked by preaching the gospel everyday before He was crucified. What we have to do on our jobs is nothing compared to the beating that Jesus took for us so we could be free. We have no right to complain about what we have to do in our daily lives, because Jesus didn’t complain one time when He was going through when He was beaten all night long!! He embraced what was set before Him until it was completely finished at Calvary. Can we embrace everything that we have to do and go through like Jesus? Can we not complain? Can we accept it? We should, why? Because He did! Thank Him for all He has done since the beginning , until now and forevermore. Amen.
