Jesus is The True Vine. He tells us this in John chapter 15. This is what Jesus said in verse one. “I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. Now, Jesus is telling us that the Father is the creator of all things, and He is the offspring of His Father. Jesus is the King, and the Son of the Living God. The vinedresser is the one that takes care of everything concerning the vine. God the Father is the vinedresser. He cultivates the vine so that it remains strong, and when everything is grown and ready for harvest the fruit of the vine is healthy and good as it should be.
Vinedresser-A person who tends or cultivates vines, especially grapevines. A worker of the soil, husbandman, farm-laborer, vinedresser. In verse two, Jesus tells us that,”Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit.
In order for a tree to bear fruit, it has to be pruned, all of the dead limbs must be cut away so that the branches can continue to grow like it should, but when it is not producing like it should after it has been pruned and not bearing fruit, it is cut off and thrown into the fire to be burned. When we stay connected to Jesus, we will bear fruit, but if we do not stay connected to Jesus we will not bear fruit. All of our substance comes from the Lord, and without Him we will die just like a branch that is not producing fruit.
In verse three, Jesus tells us that we are already clean because of the word that has been spoken to us. God’s Word is a cleanser to our souls. Without His Word we would still be spotted and stained with sin and shame. We would not be forgiven of all of our wrongs, and we would have to die in all of our sins being separated from God forever. In verse four, Jesus tells us,”Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.” We must abide in Jesus, and He will abide in us. Apart from Him we cannot grow and be strong. We must abide in Him, He is our nourishment. Our souls are watered by the word of God. Jesus is the vine, we are the branches, and God is the Potter and we are the clay. When we abide in Him, He will shape us and make us, and mold us into the people He wants us to be to bring more souls to the Kingdom of God. We draw our strength from Him just as a tree draws strength from the roots to keep it standing. We must be rooted and grounded in the Word of our Father that we may grow thereby. We are all ashes before Him, a vapor in the wind. We are here one minute, and the next minute we are gone. We do not belong to ourselves, we belong to Him; so therefore we must abide in Him so He will abide in us. Without Him, we would not exist and have our being, just as a tree cannot grow without nourishment, we cannot grow without Him.
In verse seven, Jesus tells us,”If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it will be done for you. When we obey the words of Jesus, we can ask for whatever we desire and it will be done for us! How amazingly awesome is that? It is that simple. We just have to obey God. We are His children. He wants to give us the desires of our heart. He wants us to be happy and full of joy everyday. What is most important is that we should be happy in Jesus. Material things pass away, they don’t last long, but the Word of God will stand forever. His Word is from everlasting to everlasting, and it will never change.
In verse eight, Jesus tells us,”By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples. If we do what Jesus say, we are His disciples. I know sometimes it is hard being a Christian because of all of the things that Christians have to go through in certain places in the world, but we always come out on top no matter what the case may be. Even when Christians are being persicuted, we still stand strong. Why? Because we have Jesus on our side, and if we did not have Him on our side where would we be? We would be in a bad situation without Him.
Love and Joy Perfected
Jesus tells us in verse nine,”As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love. In verse ten, Jesus tells us,”If you keep my commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love.” In verse eleven, Jesus tells us,”These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, anad that your joy may be full.
Jesus is telling us to obey God, keep the commandments, abide in Him, have joy, and abide in His love. What a wonderful Savior. He is everything to me. He is the best, and greatest Father that anyone could ever hope for in this world. His love that He has for us will never fail. He will love us until our dieing day and even when we get to heaven. How marvelous is the love that He showers on His children. Take some time just to thank Him and tell Him just how much He means to you. Tell Him how much you love Him, and how thankful you are to have Him in your life. He is waiting to hear from you. May God bless all of His children, and the United States of America. Amen.
